Did you know you can run your business like the military? There is more than one way to build your business than just your traditional marketing ways, or just online. Read on and see what I mean...

I am not sure about how things are in other countries, but in the USA, we have several different branches of military services. Each of them have a somewhat different approach, and medium, all to reach a common goal. They are the Air Force, Navy, Marines, Army, and Coast Guard. For this articles purpose, I will exclude the Coast Guard, just because I believe they are in a different boat, and I am not entirely sure how they fit exactly into the military’s equation.

The military is supposed to be our countries protection. From whatever that may be, the various different branches are trained to do just that, protect and serve our country. No matter what branch of the service you are in, you are serving your country. In your business, you should have more than one way to “serve” just as the military does, in an attempt to get more prospects, customers, or clients.

If you are currently only speaking or prospecting leads traditionally, you should listen up. If you are only speaking or prospecting leads online, you should listen up.

Lets first take a look at the Air Force. The air force attacks its enemy from the air. They are supposedly like the smarter bunch of the military, they don’t attack on land. The get to their target very quickly, or more quickly than the other branches. We can look at this as internet marketing. We can gather and meet new people clear across the world, and never have met them. This can be viewed as a smarter approach to marketing, because there is a science involved to marketing online and its the fastest approach.

Next, you have the Navy. The navy attacks by sea, the water. Its a much slower approach, but just like the heavy artillery the ship carries, it can pack a serious punch. We can look at this as the mail. Direct mail marketing is a slower approach, but if done correctly, it can have a serious impact on your business. Not everyone is on the internet, and if you want to run your business effectively, you must be able to accommodate all avenues.

The Marines are a little bit tricky, because they are pretty sneaky in their attacks, which makes me think of them in terms of social media marketing. Social media marketing is where you use attraction marketing skills to socialize inside websites such as Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and others like that but your main objective is to attract leads. A little bit sneaky, but not so much because your business is apart of you, you are your business, and as you are making friends inside these communities, your interests, your likes, dislikes are going to come up. So sharing your business is not so far fetched.

Lastly, we have the army. You do not have to be very bright or sneaky with the army. The army is alot of times on the front line, and I like to think of them as Gladiators. They just charge right in there, no worries, no cares, just head first. Die hards. To me, this is alot like the old school marketing tactics, which is still important although some people would disagree with me. You can’t be behind your computer all the time, nor can you always be mailing out mail. You will have to go to the grocery store, the movies, the mall and what have you throughout the course of your life, and you just might meet a prospect on the street. I’m not saying you need to be how my up-line told me to be which was to just go out daily and stop people on the street and ask them if they wanted to make more money and invite them to the company’s meeting. I don’t feel comfortable with that, but if you do meet someone out and about, and you build a re-pore with them, there is nothing wrong with sharing your business opportunity meeting and inviting them out.

I hope I have not offended anyone with this article post, this is just merely my opinion, and I have no affiliation with the United States Military.

Growing an online business can be challenging, and somewhat confusing, but if you follow and keep these 7 steps in mind at all times, you will survive and be successful.

Recently, I had the privilege to attend a seminar by Lee McIntyre and although there were tons of value I received out of what he shared, the one concept that truly drove home to me is what he called the Momentum 7.

1. Give First and Sell Second.

We as marketers are sometimes a tab bit eager to “pitch our deal.” You don’t want to do that, you want to viewed as a trusted advisor first, by sharing value, and then make suggestions after a re-pore/relationship has been built up. For example, say you were looking to buy a digital camera. So you go to the store and soon as you start picking up cameras and looking at them, a salesman comes over and tries to ask you if he can help you. Immediately, we put up our guard, because we don’t want that salesman to try and sell us. And that saleman can be the most knowledgeable person around about digital cameras, but it doesn’t matter to us. We don’t want to be sold. But what if you were in the same store, and you run into a buddy of yours who you know is in the know about cameras, you would take all the advice you can get from your friend. That’s how you want to position yourself, as a trusted friend, merely advising folks on our products we have to offer.

2. Never Stop Believing In Yourself, Or Your Business

We all have rough points in our lives, as well as in our businesses. But its important to remember your why, and constantly build upon yourself for when those rough times come, because no one is exempt.

3. Acknowledge That The Easy Button Doesn’t Exist

The way to make money online is to build a real/true business. What does a real business look like: Has customers, has multiple products for people to buy. A good business has a front-end and a back-end. A good business has a strategy to acquire its customers as cheaply as possible on the front-end, then convert them into back-end customers as often as possible.

There is NO easy button out there secretly hiding and all your have to do is find it. Once you acknowledge that that EZ button does not exist, you are ahead of 95% of your peers. There has never been a successful internet marketer who has been successful while still believing there is an EZ button out there.

When you believe there is an EZ button, you’ll never invest in yourself by reading new material, staying abreast, watching videos, or attending seminars.

4. Build Deep Foundations If You Want A Big Building

If you want to build a big building, a big long term business, then you must focus on long-term results. Make sure you do things that build big businesses, like writing an auto-responder series. Build relationships with your subscribers.

5. Go Deeper, Not Wider

The most expensive cost you’ll ever have is the acquisition of a new customer, in either time or cash, you will pay. The real money is made in the back-end of your business, and not the front-end. No matter if you sold a $27 ebook or a $1 trial to a membership site, the back-end of your business is the most profitable. The 2nd sale marketing cost is less than the 1st sale because you have already acquired the lead or customer. So you want to go deeper by getting the 2nd, 3rd, 4th sale from that customer you spent your time and money to acquire. You don’t want to go wider, by going into another niche. Go as deep as you can within the one niche.

Never go into another market unless you have consistent lead flow and you’ve hit the bottom of the market (you’ve gone as deep as you can.)

6. Choose Passionate Markets

Choose a market that you are passionate about, and where people are passionate and desperate for a solution. If you are in the weight loss niche, market to the one who has tried all the weight programs and is constantly looking for a weight-loss program that is a fit for them. Don’t try and market to the individual who is just “info-seeking” and only has a few love handles to burn. They are not as desperate and passionate as the person who is overweight and has been trying product after product.

Tip: Folks inside forums are generally very passionate about that market they are in. Hang out there!

7. Stop Looking For Excuses And Accept Your Results

Accept that you make things happen/or not happen in your business.

People who are successful, do things fast! Put knowledge into practice right away. Take massive action!

Google adense is a program that website owners and website advertisers in a neat sort of way team up and help each other out. This article describes exactly what I mean in further detail. Read on...

If you look at the Internet a few years back, you’ll see that advertising was done in a way that was very similar to other types of media like television, or actually, more like what you would see in a newspaper.

You’d enter a site, and in some location you’d get to see a banner (often these were quite numerous and very large), which would present and ad for whatever company was paying for ads on your space.

But there was one problem with this kind of advertising. It really wasn’t exploiting the fact that the ads weren’t in some newspaper, but were instead presented over the Internet.

You’ve probably noticed a lot of things like this over the pages you’ve browsed. You’re looking at an on-line shop, looking for a watch but you get a banner that advertises a car.

While you might, at some later point want to buy a car, right now you’re looking for a watch and it would have surely been nice if the banner were advertising a watch, because then you would have probably clicked it.

Well that’s also what the folks at Google thought of, so they came up with a killer idea. This is knows as Google AdSense, and it’s known as a targeted advertising program.

What you do (as a web designer / website owner) is, instead of jumping through hoops to get some banner on your site that your visitors won’t even care about, is you just allocate some region of the screen.

You then sign up for the Google AdSense program, you insert a small snippet of code in your webpage and Google ensures that in the location you specify, a banner will appear, presenting ads relevant to the contents of your site.

It’s very easy for Google to do this because Google is a search engine company. It looks for the key words in your page, searches a database of websites to find the ones related to whatever is on your page and presto: a targeted ad.

You (the webmaster) get a fee for each visitor that clicks on an adsense banner on your site. Now that’s bound to happen more often then with a traditional banner because people are actually interested in what’s in that banner (otherwise, they wouldn’t be on your page would they?).

But, this also does wonders for the people who want to advertise. And it’s because of the same reason. The greatest thing about Google AdSense is that all the content in a banner is relevant.

This relevancy is the key to the programs success, and also the reason why everyone remains happy. The advertiser has a relevantly placed advert, the publisher earns money from their content and Google take their cut.

Of course, as always, Google has set some high standards for its AdSense program, in terms of looks and functionality. You can’t have more than two such banners on your website and Google only inserts text in these banners.

So an extra benefit is that AdSense advertising is a lot less obtrusive then regular advertising. But this also means you should position the banner better because it’s possible that visitors might miss it altogether.

So in the end, Google AdSense is an advertising program that is unique because the ads are relevant to the content on the site. Anyone that wants to advertise pays Google for it. Anyone who wants to place ads on their site does this through AdSense, getting paid by Google in the process.

All transactions are run through Google, and the advertisers and publishers get access to statistics which help them to understand and moderate the effectiveness of their campaign.

The whole process is elegant, simple and effective for anyone in the chain, from site visitors to advertisers, and it’s one of the reasons why Google is known for their innovation and new thinking.

Part 2 of How to Sell You as explained by Curt Johnson. Giving you 16 Free Tips on How to

Get Yourself started on selling you! That's where it begins. Before you can sell anyone on

ANYthing, you need to be able to sell folks on you!

Ann Sieg says “The wealthiest and most prosperous people in any field all have one thing in common: They know how to sell. They know how to sell themselves, their products, their services, and their ideas.” So quite naturally one can conclude that if one wants to be the wealthiest and prosperous, they need to learn how to sell. That’s what we are going to talk about in this second part of How To Sell You. I’m going to give you some tips explained to me by Curt Johnson, that can give you something to at least think about and hope to inspire you to act upon it.

First things first, prospects all have the same questions about us. The very minute we (marketers) begin to speak on a product or service that we recommend, prospects begin to ask themselves, “Do I trust this person?” “Do I believe this person?” “Do they understand what I need/want?” “What do they want from me?” “What is in it for me? and “Is it worth it?”

The number one reason why folks do not buy from you is because they do not know you or anything about you. Lets change that, and begin to sell ourselves. The best way to do that is to start yourself a blog. You can easily do this for free or very little in cost. Here are some tips on how to successfully sell yourself on your blog.

Tip 1: Put a picture of yourself in the top left hand corner.
Studies have shown that when prospects visit websites, they often look at the top lefthand corner first, and then over to the right. You want your picture to be the first thing folks see visiting your site. And your picture should be professional.

Tip 2: Put your name and your favorite quote right underneath your picture.

Tip 3: Don’t fly solo.
People like to feel like they are apart of something. A community, a group, whatever it is you are receiving help from. Put it out there. Let folks know that yes you can be their guide and go to person for questions, but also let them know that hey, I didn’t just make all this stuff up, that you in fact did learn it from other successful folks in your system, or community you communicate with.

Tip 4: Testimonies
If you are just getting started, you may not have any testimonies, but soon as you do you should paste them on your blog.

Tip 5: Add family pictures of your social side.
Adding pictures is a wonderful way to allow prospects into the human side of you. Allow them to get to know you.

Tip 6: Industry – Celebrity Photos
If you have a picture with your upline member or someone who has mentored you, its cool to show that picture on your blog. If you have met any celebrities, same goes as well. We are building a portfolio of all about you here. If you do not have any of these, just add if/whenever you do.

Tip 7: Add your awards
This may or may not apply to you, but if you have received some kind of award, let people know it. Put it on your blog.

Tip 8: Add audio
Adding audio is a great way for folks to feel like they know you and to allow them to get to know you. There are tons of free tools out there that can help with this service.

Tip 9: Add video
Again, we are branding you, selling you. So you want to have no guess work here. Show yourself. Have video’s of yourself or of showing your prospects something. Search engines love video, so if you can have video as one of the first things people see on your site, they will most likely watch the whole video. And each second a prospect stays on your site, google tracks that and give your site a great rating.

Tip 10: Add a Signature
Adding your signature is a great way to secure some more professionalism to your site/blog. You can easily create one by scanning your signature and saving it as a picture file like jpeg. Once you have it, use it often.

Tip 11: Create a slide show
As you build up pics on your blog, its nice to create a slide show with a little caption about the picture. Just a little way to jazz up your blog.

Tip 12: Add your certifications/Credentials
This may or may not apply, but if you have any certifications and/or creditials put them on your blog.

Tip 13: Have an “About Me” page on your blog.
If you are able, just create an about me page, and create a video just explaining to folks who you are, things you have done, who you’d like to be to them, and anything valuable you’d like to convey to your target audience. Or just write it. People like to know who they are talking to, who they are dealing with. Put yourself in the propests mind for a moment and ask yourself, what would I like to know about a person that I was thinking about working with, and add that!

Tip 14: Purchase a domain name.
Your blog should be a professional, and easy to remember domain. Purchasing a domain is highly recommended, given the fact that they are so reasonably priced (approximately $8 a year). It should be YourName.com or YourBusinessName.com or whatever your target market is like NetworkMarketersBlog.com. This shows professionalism, and you can still use a free blog platform and just forward your domain to that free platform blog.

Tip 15: Have a professional email address associated with your domain name.
If you bought YourName.com then you should have a professional email address like YourFirstName@YourName.com. My blog is JasminAnderson.com, and my email address is jasmin@jasminanderson.com. Although I have a hotmail account that I still very much use, I still created my professional email account and I have all my professional emails forwarded to my hotmail account. And you can do the same for your desired email account. But giving out a hotmail or yahoo or gmail email account is frowned upon and does not exert professionalism. And thats what we want to be, professional.

Tip 16: Tell a Story. Tell Your Story. Tell Stories.
People love a great story, but more importantly you want to show and tell people who you are. The key to keep in mind is that YOU are your business, not your MLM. In other words, it isn’t enough for your opportunity to be different, YOU have to be different. You have to give your prospects a reason for why they should work with you, or buy from you instead of the next guy. The more unique you are, the more valuable you are, to yourself, to the prospect, to everyone.

Part One of a Three series titled How To Sell You. Curt Johnson gives a short three part lesson on his point of view on how to sell you. This first series explains what it means to sell you, and how to go about doing such.

Curt Johnson, partner of the Renegade Professional team has given us his insight on what he thinks it takes to sell yourself. He based alot of his points from what Ann Sieg has said in her phenomenal book The 7 Great Lies in Network Marketing. I am in total agreement with what Ann Sieg says, as well as how Curt breaks it down even further.

In Ann Sieg’s book The 7 Great Lies in Network Marketing, the first lie she explains we are told is that Everyone Is Your Prospect. This is so not true. As highly as a feel, and with as much respect I hold true to my personal MLM company, I know that my business is NOT a fit for everybody. To me, that’s what’s so beautiful about network marketing. There are hundreds, maybe thousands of other MLM businesses out there. Find the one that is best suited for you, and your lifestyle. Stop trying to cram what you feel is best for you onto other people. Ann says “People who try to be everything to everybody, wind up meaning nothing special to anyone.” And that’s not the goal here. We want to sell ourselves as respectable, but you are not going to be a fit for everyone, just like everyone is not your prospect. I think people misconstrue that concept by saying everyone is a prospect, when what I really think they want to say is not to pre-judge people and that everyone whether you work at McDonald’s or a Fortune 500 company deserves a shot. But again, you can expose your business but not push it upon them.

Another lie Ann Sieg discusses that Curt Johnson expounds upon is “We have the best product ever.” The person who succeeds is not the one with the best company, but the one who can do the best job communicating the idea of their company” Ann explains. And I agree, I realize we are all in sales, and yes we want to sell our “thing” but you will never get anywhere in life by downing other products and things. Be a great communicator, be a great listener and people will gravitate and respect you more for giving your honest opinion rather than you just trying to hype up your numbers. Another lie we are told in MLM is about The Proven System. People please understand that a system can not do all of the work for you. I have heard lots of times in network marketing that the system will do all of the work for you, basically telling you just to join and watch the cash roll in. That is absolutely ridiculous. If this so called system, did all of the work for you, and you did no need to sell a thing, then why do they need you? Think about that for a moment.

If you really want to learn How To Sell You, you must understand U.S.P. thoroughly. U.S.P. stands for Unique Selling Position. And in reality, the U, starts with YOU! YOU have to be the unique feature. YOU have to understand the niche market and be focused. You might say to yourself, well how do I do that? Curt Johnson says its pretty simple, just ask yourself one question: What can I say to my niche market that no one else can say? And the answer is very simple, tell your story! We all have a story, we all are unique and different, your story is your niche market in so many words. If you are a broke college graduate who couldn’t get a job because you lacked experience, so you turned to the internet and have now found success. That’s your audience. That’s your niche. If you are a baby boomer who forked as an executive for decades, found yourself unemployed and are unemployable, and again, turned to the net for help and have found success, that’s your niche. You can explain all the points in the world on how to do something, give the best advice and strategies around, but what’s going to stick with people is your story. They’re going to identify with you through your past and pain. And that’s what’s going to be unique for you and bridge that gap for your audience. You have something to say, you don’t know what knowledge you are holding onto that just could be the missing link to the puzzle for somebody else. Insignificant as it may seem, tell it anyway.

Please understand that selling You is understanding what your contribution is, what you have to offer. That’s the first step in finding what your unique selling position is, and your target market. Start with your story, write it, and all the pieces will fall in line.

Are you wondering if you should trust or purchase Ann Sieg's products or not? Have you heard things about her and they just seem too good to be true? Well read on as I give it to you straight about Ann Sieg and tell you in my own words whether she is or isn't a sham.

Ann Sieg is many of things. She is first and foremost a woman, a mother, not sure if she is a wife or not, a network marketer, a author, but in no way shape or form is she a sham. I follow a handful of folks in this network marketing business, and Ann Sieg is one of those persons that I follow. I believe that she is one of the top persons to follow in their footsteps, because she has guidance from some of the best of the best such as Jim Rohn, and has uses teaching from icons such as Napolean Hill. One of her favorite quotes come from Robert Kiyosaki (“Rich Dad, Poor Dad”) which says ” Don’t do anything for the money you will make, but for the skills you will learn.”

I believe that by Ann Sieg following that motto of life says alot about her character, and proves her not to be a sham. There are tons of things one could make a boatload of money off of, but if you are cheating people, and can’t hold your head up high at the end of the day, is it worth it? Ann Sieg has tons of success stories and testimonials all attesting to Ann Sieg’s character and all explain how much she has helped them grow as a person and their business to thrive. That’s a great feeling to have at the end of your day to know that you have helped someone and have them thank you for it.

One of Ann Sieg’s primary teachings is that when you are growing your MLM business, or any business for that matter, educating people allows you to become the hunted, rather than you being the hunter. Does that sound like the words from a person who’s primary objective is to swindle you? No, its providing true value, establishing you as the expert, gaining trust from the prospect and giving that prospect the choice of wanting to work with you. Its not cramming or shoving yourself down someones throat with your opportunity.

What really turned me onto Ann Sieg is the ebook she wrote titled “7 Great Lies of Network Marketing,” where she spoke of the 7 key phrases we hear from traditional network marketers all the time as to why the business isn’t growing or why you aren’t making it happen dispite your efforts.

They are:

1.) Everyone is your prospect.
2.) This really isn’t sales, we’re just sharing our products with people.
3.) Anyone can do this.
4.) We’ll build your business for you.
5.) We have the best product ever.
6.) You just don’t have enough belief.
7.) The proven system.

I don’t care where you are from, nor where you are at, if you have tried network marketing at some point and time, I guarantee that you have heard at least one or two of these. And again I ask you, does this sound like a person trying to swindle you? Or does this sound like a woman with true knowledge and value?

Anyone claiming that Ann Sieg is a sham, must not know of her, couldn’t, nor could they have read or listened to any of her books. Only one listen to what she is saying, one would know that she is speaking truth and value.

Coaching skills are vital to your own person, as well as to your business. Find out the main key ingredient on what you need to have in order to become an effective coach, and what it will take to get there. Find out why you need coaching skills and how important they are to your business.

I listened to a call given by Renegade Professionals by way of Barbara Silva the other day. She titled her talk “The Coaching Mindset – Why Developing Coaching Skills Will Save Time, Money, Effort, and Your Nerves!” I found her title pretty intriguing and I learned quite a bit from her talk.

The first thing she talked about was “What Does a Coach Do?” Simply put, a coach uses their skills to help their clients, a sort of guidance system. But its important for the client to choose his or her own course. Being sort of like a consultant, teaching the client how to sail their own ship. Coaches identify the underlying problems. They identify the elephant in the room, the thing that needs to be said but isn’t. Coaches listen on a much deeper level. Which is something that will take some practice, but once mastered can save you a bunch of time because lots of times its what’s not being said that’s most significant.

Next Silva speaks on “Why Coaching Skills Are Important to Your Business?” Coaching skills help cut down on the time it takes to get things done. Coaching skills help inspire trust in you immediately. Coaching Skills reduce the pressure and stress that comes with being a business owner. And most importantly, coaching skills help make sure that the message you send out, is the same as the message that the client is receiving. You want to fine tune your clarity. Things can become misconstrued, and misunderstood very quickly, but with the proper skills as a coach, you can avoid all confusion.

As a coach, you want to learn to see what is and isn’t there. You want to be able to tune into what your customers do and say in a way that you may not be able to do currently. Most people don’t do this, but you want to stand out amongst the bunch and show the clients how you are different from the rest of the “coaches.” This is simply listening to people, and understanding their concerns. Listen to what is said, and what isn’t said. Ask questions, and listen to the answers. Listen, listen, listen, with your whole heart as if no one, no thing matter at that particular moment in time. Listen with no judgements, don’t rush to any solutions, just giving them the space to be who they are. It will make a difference.Put yourself in the other person’s place, listen to where they’ve been, what they’ve been doing, who they were with, what part of the world they are from, anything to give you a context on how they might receive your message.

Coaching is delegation in its supreme form. You learn how to give another person the space they need to let their own process of discovery flourish. When they do this, when they feel safe, they start to find solutions on their own. And that’s when you truly cut down on the time it takes to get things done in your own business as well as within that person’s you are helping grow.

One might ask, “What Can I Start Doing Right Now?” And the answer is begin practicing true listening skills. Whether you are speaking with a client or a family member, practice being completely “in the moment with them.” Out of everything Silva spoke on, the most important idea I came away with was how critical listening is and can be to you connecting with your clients and how vital to your business. Put that listening skill into practice right now!

There are things in life that we have no control over. But we can control what and how we will allow them to affect our lives and make conscience decisions for our future. When you plan your life and don't let any other force or nature ruin it, expect to win.

Zig Ziglar is one of my favorite persons to listen to for energy, solid advice, and just plain knowledge. I like him because of his humor, his southern ways and tactics, and how he just strictly tells it like it is. This article is an adaptation of one of Zig’s recordings.

Zig starts out explaining that we are where we are today because of the choices we have made. I know I personally dislike it when I speak with a person and they tell me about a goal that they have and when we get to discussing their progress, they have all the excuses in the world. I can’t work with people like that because my father used to tell me, “You can make excuses or you can make money, but you can’t do both.” And Zig says something pretty similar when he said that People who don’t take step one, generally don’t take step two, so terminate until the first step is completed.

Zig describes four steps if you will that you need to understand fully if you want to win in life.

The first is accepting responsibility for your actions and know that you do have a choice in your life.

The second is its not what’s going on out there, but what you do. Lots of people like to blame their failure on the economy. But you are the direct reflection of what happens to you, good or bad. In every economical struggle this nation has ever seen, there have always been people who were flourishing. Profiting in the very same economical struggle you are complaining about.

The third thing Zig says we must understand is that its not what our mother or father did, or how they lived, but what kind of legacy will you leave to your children? People have lived in riches and glory, and people have been used, mistreated and abused. And if that has happened to you, which is unfortunate, but maybe a little counseling to help you move on from that pain and hurt would be needed. Not to sound insensitive, but holding on to old hurts and pains only gives those people who have hurt you power over your life. They have either passed away or have moved on with their lives and you can’t bring any real joy to your life until you let go and forgive. You do not want to bring that misery to your children and the new life you are living. Seek the help if needed, but create a joyous and happy life for your children.

The last trait Zigs describes is its not what happens to you, its how you handle it. I remember in college, both undergrad as well as grad, the registrar was no one to play around with. They were no joke. And although lots of times, the registrar who handled your schedule, money on your account and things of that sort truly in deed would mess you up. You’d have to stand in long lines for lengthy periods of time, get sent in other lengthy lines, and nine times of out ten, it would be the registrar’s error. But you ALWAYS had to keep your cool, because if you would become irate, the registrar was who you would need to come back to at some point, and they will remember your face. Its there seal of approval you need in order to go to classes. They could give you a hard time. So college was pretty much my first learning experience about how to handle “trying” situations. You can’t always say what you want to say, and you have to kill them with kindness.

Zig tells a story about how after a long weekend speaking at a conference someplace, his flight is cancelled. And as the flight personnel explains to Zig that his flight has been cancelled Zig says “Fantastic.” The lady couldn’t understand why he would say such a thing, so she asked him, “Why would you say ‘Fantastic’ I just told you your flight has been cancelled?” Zig told her “There are only three reasons why a flight is canceled…something wrong with the plane, something wrong with the pilot, or something wrong in the sky. If its anyone of those three reasons, I don’t want to be on that flight.” The lady understood, then continued to tell Zig that the next flight wasn’t until 6pm, which was a considerable time difference away. Zig says “Fantastic!” yet again. The lady paused and said “Now Mr. Ziglar, I can maybe understand why you would say fantastic about the plane, but I just told you you’ll be stuck in a airport for quite sometime, why would you say ‘Fantastic’ to that?” Zig explains to her, “Well I never been to XXX Airport before, its dry, roof over my head, lights and electricity works, I do have some reading and work that I can do. And I can do that right here in this fine space, rent free, and you have a very nice coffee shop right over there, so if I get hungry or want something to drink its available to me.” The lady smiled as did Zig, and he went on about his day.

Zig could have been sarcastic or yelled and explained how he had his tickets for months in advance, and the next flight still wouldn’t of been until 6pm. He could of asked to speak with management, requested compensation, but the next flight still wouldn’t of been until 6pm. When things are out of your control, you have to learn how to not let it take hold of your life. Make the adjustments. It wasn’t that lady’s fault nor managements fault that the flight was cancelled, so “letting them have it” is not going to fix the problem. And you certainly can’t let them ruin or take hold of your whole day. Because now you’ve given them power over your whole day. Sure Zig was displeased inside, sure he didn’t really feel the way that he said, but the flight is still going to leave at 6pm.

Whether we know it or not, our physical and emotional self wants and needs for these six different traits described by Anthony Robbins in this seminar. They are the difference between our lives just surviving or our lives being completely fulfilled.

Did you now that there are six needs that we as a people need, not want but actually need in our lives in order to be whole? Well I wasn’t aware of them individually per say until I listened to Anthony Robbins explain and describe each one in full detail. One thing though before naming each need, they all revolve around on principle. And that’s pain and pleasure. We as a people want a little of pain, and a lot more of pleasure.

Lets talk about the first four needs, to begin. These are what Tony Robbins calls the survival needs. Meaning most people already “get” these needs, because without them, you could not make it. The other two needs are categorized as fulfillment needs. Not too many people get this far in their lives. So after reading this, and become aware of these needs, you can aspire and bring your life to fulfillment.

The first need is certainty. We love to know if something is a sure thing. We like to be comfortable, and we avoid pain like the plague. And naturally so. We freak out when we don’t have our certainty, such as things not being in our control. Company is being acquired, will you be able to keep your job; are your kids doing drugs; or you need to go to the doctor for a mammogram because you are at that certain age where it can get scary, and you just don’t know how the doctor visit will turn out. We like our certainty, and we go out of our way to make sure we can get it. And what happens a lot of times is that we strive so hard for our certainty, that we become bored. You have a career, nice home, vacation home, kids in a great schools, everything is going according to plan and you just don’t want to take the risk. But that’s what life is about, taking risks. If you knew everything thing that was going to happen to you, life would be boring, and that’s what happens, which brings us to the second need of uncertainty.
Just how we need to be certain in life, we also need to be uncertain. We need that mystery, surprise, the excitement, the unknown. It gets us going and gives us something to look forward to. We can not be happy unless we grow, and get into the unknown sometimes. Tony Robbin’s said “The quality of your life is in direct proportion to the amount of uncertainty you can comfortably live with.” If you have to be certain all the time, then you are in prison, and you’ll be completely unfulfilled. Its in the realm of uncertainty that your passion is found. Tony says that middleground is the closest thing to a grave. Keep your hunger alive by being in the uncertainty and in the uncertainty you’ll find your hunger.

The third need is for significance. The need to feel special. Your life having purpose, you need to be needed. Some folks level of significance is higher or lower than others, but it is still there otherwise we wouldn’t be able to survive. In order to be significant, you must also be unique. There are lots of superstars who use their who career and strive after being unique and different, that they become too unique and sort of isolate themselves therefore being unhappy and sad. Which brings us to the next need that generally comes after significance, and that’s love.

The fourth need is connection and love. We all need and want to be loved. What we really need to do is learn how to treat and love ourselves as good as we want to treat others. We all want to love other people, but we don’t show or treat ourselves that same love. Unless you create a good relationship with yourself first, how can you love someone else? You can’t. People have so much hurt and pain within themselves buried so deep, that they wonder why they keep having failed relationships. If you find yourself resenting someone elses success, you have just sealed yourself from being able to succeed. Who you spend time with is who you become. Most people’s lives are a direct reflection of their peer group. Your peer group is anyone that you care about who or what they think of you. If you set a high expectation than your peer group, they will have to either come up to your level, or you need to form a new peer group. Whatever you do, you don’t want to drop to their level. And if your peer group is your family, then just love your family, but choose your peers.

Certainty, Uncertainty, Significance, and Love are the four survival needs. We all are doing and receiving those on a regular basis whether we know it or not, but needs five and six are needs that most of us never get to in our lives. They are titled the fulfillment needs. What we need in order to be at total peace and to have a inner joy within ourselves that no one, or no thing can take away or destroy.

The fifth need is growing. We all must be forever be growing. Any living organism must continue to grow. Look at a plant for example, if a plant isn’t always spreading its branches, spreading into new soil, constantly being watered and showered, it dies. Same with us, we too must grow, or we die. I read a statistic that stated once a person graduates from high school, the likely hood of that individual to read a book for pure enjoyment or growth was less than 2%.

Lastly, we must contribute beyond ourselves. In science, we know that anything that doesn’t contribute is eliminated. We must give back and help others. Whether you have a little or a lot, give. Whether that be of your time, by volunteering or you giving financially, no one achieves true success without someone’s help and generosity, so why not help someone else as you were helped.

As I explained earlier, the first four needs are just pure survival, the last two include a recipe of living your life to fulfillment. Most people just survive out here in this world, never achieving fulfillment. Do you want to just survive or live your life to fulfillment?
